Window Onto a Tuscan Alley
Commission Work Painted Directly on Wall
Approx. 56" H

This work was created on the wall of a short hallway leading to a master bedroom. Note the reflection of the hallway in the left window pane.

Too many trompe l'oeil views of scenes in italy and other European countries show windows that open outward. They don't. The walls are of stone, brick and mortar and very thick. Opening windows outward would make them very difficult to close. Also, there are exterior shutters that are closed against storms. The windows are placed in close to the interior wall and open inward.

The alleyway is authentic and, if I remember correctly, was located in Arezzo.
